Original Civil War Cannon Friction Primer for Firing a Cannon
Click on an image to enlarge
This is an original non-excavated Civil War cannon friction primer. These were inserted into the vent hole of the cannon to cause the spark that set off the powder charge and the cannon to fire. The brass tube portion is about 2-3/4ths inches long. It has the original twisted wire at the top. You don't see these very often these days. This one is non-excavated and beautiful condition as you can see. It is a great piece of Civil War artillery history for the price.
