Revolutionary War Socket Bayonet Possible American With French Influence

Here is a cool looking socket bayonet from the Revolutionary War era. This socket bayonet has a French style influence and is completely unmarked. The bayonet measures 18 inches in overall length with the socket making up 3 of those inches. Where the blade shank reached the bottom of the socket, it has the raised joint like the French Model 1750 socket bayonet. The socket has the right hand side channel that tapers towards the blade end. It has the raised lip on the back side of the socket. The blade has the full-length grooves on the underside of the blade with the small fuller on the top of the blade that measures 6 inches in length. The inside front of the socket measures .85 inches and the back side has the inside diameter of .87 inches but has some bends. The metal of the piece has a wonderful barn look with an ancient brown salt and pepper all over. This is a great piece of Rev War era history!
