Interesting Gutta Percha Box with "DERBY 1863" Design
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a neat piece! This is a small box made of the thermoplastic gutta percha material. The box measures 4 inches by 4-1/2 inches in overall size. The lid fits beautifully on the base. The top lid has the detailed scene of the race horse with the jockey and the gentleman standing in front. Along the bottom edge it reads "DEBY 1863". This piece isn't 1863 in manufacture in my opinion. It is likely from the late 1800's. As you see, it displays beautifully.
