Here is an original autograph of Confederate General William Hugh Young. William Hugh Young (January 1, 1838 – November 28, 1901) was a Confederate States Army brigadier general during the American Civil War (Civil War). He was a university student and received a military education before the Civil War. He was a lawyer and real estate operator in San Antonio, Texas after the Civil War. Young spent nine months at the end of the war as a prisoner of war. He commanded the 9th Texas Infantry at Shiloh. AT Stones River, he was wounded int he shoulder and had two horses shot out from under him. He would later be wounded at Champion's Hill and again at Chickamauga. He kept on fighting and was wounded again at Kennesaw and then again at Allatoona, Georgia. The
autograph is accompanied by a printed biography of his service as well as a
modern Xerox image of the General. The paper that the autograph is on measures 9 inches by 5-3/4ths inches in overall size. The document is a promise to pay note dated April 19th 1882. The General signs it along the bottom edge in fine brown ink. It is a fine piece of
