It isn't often that you get a chance to own a piece of history from the Republic of Texas. It is even more scarce to find something from the Republic of Texas Navy. Here is a piece of Texas Navy history from the middle of the life of the short-lived Republic of Texas. This is a payment receipt for "... the claims of the Officers, Sailors and Marines of the Texian Navy..." It is paying $50 from the Texas Treasury Department in the City of Austin. It is hand dated from April 23rd 1841. Along the bottom, it is hand signed by the Treasurer and Comptroller. It measures 7-3/8ths inches by 3-1/4th inches in overall size. It is marked when the Government paid the debt. That is what the blue ink marks are in the paper. This is a great little piece of Republic of Texas Navy history!
