This is a beautiful reunion ribbon badge from the Civil War Union Veterans organization known as the Grand Army of the Republic or G.A.R. This one is from the national reunion that took place in Louisville, Kentucky in 1895. On the top of the ribbon, it has the "OHIO" marking that lets us know it was worn by an Ohio veteran at the reunion. It has the date and location across the bottom with the woven GAR lettering design in the center. It has the very quality of the construction. It has the nice colors as well as the eagle and "GAR" marking across the top bar that is made of brass and the original attachment pin is on the reverse. The piece measures 8-3/4ths inches by 3 inches. What a beautiful piece!
