1863 Confederate Savings Bond With Soldier Holding His Sword
Click on an image to enlarge
This is one of my favorite Confederate States of America savings bonds. This original 1863 dated Confederate savings bond was issued for the $100 denomination. This is the style that has the image of a Confederate soldier in the center of the bond. He is leaning by a tree with his hand on his sword. It is hand signed and numbered and printed on a paper that has a light pink tone. At the bottom of the bond are the 8 original interest coupons that would have been cashed if the Confederate Government would have stayed in existence. This is the Confederate bond listed as CR-120 in the bond book by Criswell and as B212 in the Ball book on Confederate bonds. They were lithograph printed by Archer & Daly of Richmond, Virginia and are so marked in the bottom center of the top section. This is a great piece of Confederate history from 1863!
