This is a good looking, authentic and tough to find .36 caliber "New Navy" model of Remington revolver. This is the Civil War pattern of .36 caliber Remington revolver. The metal on the gun has a small amount of the original factory bluing in the protected areas. The hammer still has traces of the original factory case coloration visible. It has the clear September 1858 patent mark across the top of the barrel to go along with the Remington maker's mark and Illion, New York production location. Since this is one of the first of the new models it still has the barrel markings like the old model. It has matching serial numbers of 32,194, which one of the early numbers of the production of this model. The books state that they started making these "New Model" Remington revolvers at 23,000 which was the end of the model 1861 "Navy Model" revolver. These were all made in 1862. The action works well on all positions. On the handle of the gun it has the original 2-piece walnut grip intact. This is an attractive original .36 caliber Remington "New Model" Civil War revolver that is a step above what you usually encounter.
