Rebel Shells Coming into Their Camp Letter of the 93rd Ohi Infantry at Atlanta

This is an original Civil War soldier’s letter. This letter is written from "Camp Near Atlanta, Georgia” and is dated August 14th 1864. The soldier was writing home to "Dear Brother”. It was written by Isaac Miller who was serving with the 93rd Ohio Infantry. Miller Enlisted on August 5th 1862 as a Private in the 93rd Ohio Infantry. He served with the regiment until he mustered out in Nashville, Tennessee on June 8th 1865. When opened up, the paper measures 10-3/4ths inches by 8-1/4th inches in overall size. The letter is handwritten on fine quality paper in pencil. It comes with a type-written translation of the contents. Miller and the 97th were serving under General Sherman on his Georgia Campaign. He is telling his brother that "We had a very noisy night last night our batteries was firing on Atlanta all night. The rebbels threw some shells over at us one of our boys was sent in another world by one he was a cook for one of our captains.” He states that the shell entered the ground by his knapsack and came out by his side. He adds if it has been a few inches over it would have "… struck him on the top of the head a went threw him”. It has lots of other cool content. It is a neat original Civil War soldier’s letter.
