Relic Condition London Made .36 Caliber Colt Revolver Made in 1855

Here's a very cool relic condition artifact. This is the classic model 1851 Colt revolver in the .36 caliber bore size. These guns were referred to as a "Navy" revolver but they were highly prized by the cavalry for their accuracy. This is the style that was used by soldiers and civilians on both sides of the Civil War when they could get one. It is the scarce version that was made in London by Colonel Colt. We know this because of the iron backstrap and triggerguard. It also has the British proof marks still partially visible on the left hand side of the barrel. This one has serial number of what appears to be 19,215, still visible on the triggerguard and frame. Thanks to Mr. colt's bookkeepers we know that this serial number would've been made in 1855. Many of the guns from this time frame or used during the Civil War with some of them being lost like this one. As you can see the metal of the gun is pitted all over with a fine look. It appears complete except for the barrel wedge including the loading assembly. On the handle of the gun, it still has the original wooden 1-piece grip intact. For the last several decades, this spear has been in the collection of Mr. Glenn Mattox of Post Falls, Idaho. Mr. Mattox passed and I was able to get this pistol that he would NEVER sell me. I have enjoyed it and now it can be part of your collection. This is a great excavated artifact that I wish to talk.
