Click on an image to enlarge

This is an authentic Y style gun tool for the Austrian pattern military rifle. These model 1857 Austrian style muskets were used by both sides of the Civil War. This is the style that is illustrated on page #210 of the gun tool book by Shaffer, Rutledge & Dorsey. It has the nipple wrench on one side with the screwdriver tool on another and the punch tool on the last side. The verbal history that accompanied this piece is that it was found in the 1960's in the Battle of Chancellorsville, Virginia area. Chancellorsville was a battle between the Confederate forces of Robert E. Lee and Union General Joseph Hooker on April 30th until May 6, 1863. This is a nice piece to have with your Austrian Gun.
