This is an interesting and authentic CDV image of Confederate President Jefferson Davis. It is a cartoon style CDV image of the President wearing a dress. When Jeff Davis was captured, he was wearing a cloak. To shame him (and the Confederacy) they spread the rumor that he was wearing a dress not a cloak. The press took off with the story and the jokes and cartoons followed. This one also has the image of his wife Varina. Along the bottom of the card, it has the 1865 date and entered in Massachusetts. On the back of the card it made without a printer marking so it wouldn't advertise for the actual maker. There is some light paper loss to the paper on the card that is mentioned for exactness. The overall size of a CDV image is approximately 2.5 inches by 4 inches in size. It is a fine original CDV that will make a solid addition to any Confederate Civil War collection.
