GORGEOUS! Vermont ID'd Model 1860 U.S. Staff & Field Officer's Sword

Here is a very pretty sword for the price! This is the sword officially referred to as the U.S. model 1860 staff & field officer's sword. This name is a little misleading since almost all of the swords of this pattern were made in the late 1800's. This one was probably made about 1880 or so. It has the very nicely etched blade that is full-length. At the base of the blade it has the maker's mark of the famous Boston retailer's marking in the etching of the Bent and Bush Company. Just down the blade from the retailer's mark it has the patriotic and floral designs etched into the blade. It has the owner's name beautifully etched "Col. M.K. Paine." The accompanying documentation states that Milton Kendall Paine was from Windsor, Vermont. It has a nice color to the brass of the hand guard and pommel cap. The hand guard has the beautiful Union eagle on the clam shell side of the guard. On the back side it has the clam shell guard that folds down and the spring button is intact. The original grip is remaining and is the version that is made out of sharkskin and it has the double twist brass wire wrap. The sword is accompanied by the original scabbard that is complete and has a very nice look all over. This is a pretty sword with the blade inscription. Item #: C2088 Shipping Weight:
