This is a great looking piece of history from the Grand Army of the Republic. The Grand Army of the Republic or G.A.R. was the organization made up of Union Survivors of the Civil War. They held reunion and erected monuments to the men that fought for the north during the Civil War. This medal was to commemorate the 1910 reunion of the G.A.R. that was held in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The top bar has the "Dept. of Conn." Connecticut state designation. The lower medallion is made of celluloid and has the Connecticut state seal design in the center on the front. On the edge, it has the Atlantic City reunion location and 1910 date. The original pin is on the reverse of the top bar. The ribbon flag displays well with some wear. This is an excellent medal for any collection.
