This is a beauty! It is a classic United States Model 1864 regulation "McClellan" Union army saddle from the Civil War. Is constructed with the rawhide covered seat. The Saddle is constructed using iron and brass hardware including the brass saddle shield. This is the saddle shield that has the size marking that states "12 INCH SEAT". It is designed with the full-length brown leather skirts. This one has the leather girth strap attached to the underside as well, as two wooden stirrups with the original leather coverings. It has had some modern made link straps and a reproduction blanket added for display purposes. As you can see, they display quite well with the saddle. Most of the time when you encounter one of these 1864 McClellan saddles, they are usually heavily damaged and missing pieces. This one is in very fine condition and displays beautifully.
