Here is your chance to own a gun that is arguably the most desirable of all Civil War weapons. It is the desirable pistol known to collectors as the "LeMat” revolver. Colonel LeMat was the man that held the patent on this unique revolver. It fired nine .42 caliber shots from the cylinder that works as a usual revolver. Under the main barrel it has a huge .63 caliber shotgun barrel for blasting buckshot. That was you last line of defense. The hammer has a pivoting striker that turns down to strike the nipple for the shotgun blast. This is the early transition model that has the loading lever mounted on the left hand side of the barrel. When you look closely you see that one of the cylinders cracked when it was fired. WOW! can you imagine what the Rebel thought? The original loading lever is a very well made modern replacement. Across the top of the barrel you can still see the Colonel LeMat Patent Mark. It proudly reads "COL LE MAT Bte SCDC PARIS". This one has matching numbers on the parts of "625” throughout the gun. These numbers are nice and low in the production. The action of the gun works crisply on all positions. This one also has the distinctive spur style trigger guard and lanyard ring at the bottom of the grip. The grips are present on the handle and they have the ornately engraved screw in the center holding them together. This gun just has a wonderful overall presentation and is a superb piece of Confederate firearms history.
