Click on an image to enlarge
Here is an opportunity to own a fantastic original Civil War era bronze cannon. This is an original bronze smooth bore cannon that was manufactured by the firm of Cyrus Alger of Boston, Massachusetts. It has their marking on the right trunnion. On the left-hand trunnion it has the production date of 1839. This beautiful bronze gun has a total barrel weight of 693 pounds and is so marked on the breech face. The 6 pound bronze prewar cannons were heavily used in the early days of the American Civil War by artillery units on both sides. This one has spent the last decade in the collection of our friend and country music legend, Hank Williams Jr. He acquired the cannon from the collection of Val Forgette who owned the gun making business, Navy Arms. The gun comes on a beautiful reproduction carriage that was manufactured by Steen Cannon Works. As you can see it is an exceptional piece from all angles. Don't miss the opportunity to own an original Civil War cannon from the collection of a country music icon. THIS ITEM IS FEATURED ON OUR SHILOHRELICS YOUTUBE CHANNEL.
