Here is a great looking untouched gun. This is an original War of 1812 era flintlock musket. This is the pattern that is known as a light infantry carbine/fusil by collectors. It measures 53 inches in overall length with the barrel making up 38 of those inches. It fires a musket ball of .75 caliber which was quite a punch. At the breech of the barrel it has the sunken style proof markings. Along the top of the barrel it has the "I.W. YORK M" marking. The gun would have been used by the 1st West York Militia. The gun is still in the original flintlock configuration and the action still works well. The lockplate has the maker marking of the maker, "BARKER". The stock is a beautiful single piece of dark wood. The wood has a gorgeous untouched dark tone all over. It has the brass ramrod channel guides as well as the brass triggerguard and buttplate. Along the top of the buttplate it has the "LI / 26". This is for the Light Infantry and 26th gun. The gun has both of the original sling swivels as well as the ramrod in the channel under the barrel. This is a great looking 200 year old gun from all angles.
