Beautiful 1864 Production .36 Caliber Colt Revolver With Matching Numbers

This is a great looking original .36 caliber Colt patent revolver. It is the classic model 1851 Colt revolver referred to by collectors as the "Navy" model even though the majority of their service was seen on land. This one has the clear Colt maker's mark on the top of the barrel along with the correct New York City location. These guns were actually manufactured in Hartford, Connecticut with the sales office being located in New York City. The gun has all matching serial numbers of 176,949 including the barrel wedge. Thanks to Mr. Colt's good bookkeeping, we know that this gun would have been made in 1864. The side of the frame has the "COLTS PATENT" mark to go along with the one on the side of the cylinder. The cylinder still retains about 75% of the original naval scene and most of the time this is long gone. The action works superbly on all positions. On the handle of the gun it has the original 1-piece walnut grips intact with a fine look all over to the wood. There is still a large amount of the original factory varnish on the walnut wood. The brass on the triggerguard and backstrap still retain a beautiful golden honey tone to the brass. This is a nice Civil War production Colt revolver that displays quite well from all angles.
